These organizations help foster equity and build bridges between cultures by providing cultural and linguistic support and services to Southeast Minnesota natives and newcomers of all backgrounds.


  • Diversity Council

    The Diversity Council strives to educate people to embrace diversity as a foundation for building a healthy, inclusive and prosperous community. The organization conducts student workshops, professional diversity training, and other educational programs to this effect, in addition to providing community leadership and offering consulting services on diversity issues to local businesses and organizations. The Diversity Council also manages a comprehensive directory of cultural support resources and contacts.

  • Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA)

    IMAA’s mission is to build bridges between cultures by providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The organization was founded due to the identified need to empower refugees to develop and lead self-help programs. IMAA serves hundreds of refugee newcomers every year by helping to create stability, self-sufficiency, independence, and to build community.
